WELCOME BACK! |
WELCOME STUDENTS! We are super-excited to begin our 11th year of dance, theatre and music classes for toddlers through teens.
Over the summer, Off Broadway Dance Theatre was thrilled to have been selected as a Groupon Atlanta "deal of the day." Participation in the deal was incredible (!) and we are delighted to have a host of new friends in our dance and theatre classes. Should you happen to see any new faces, please introduce yourself and welcome them into our Off Broadway family!
On behalf of the directors, instructors and staff at Off Broadway Dance Theatre, we look forward to another incredible year of growth, discovery and the wonderful world of performing arts!

THE OBD KIDS - COMPETITIVE TROUPE |
OFF BROADWAY KIDS MUSICAL THEATRE TROUPE
Auditions - This Saturday, August 14 2 - 6 pm
Directed by Christian Mayer

Performance Dates: February 2011 (Atlanta and Orlando)
The "OBD Kids" is our award-winning musical theatre competition troupe designed for serious "triple threat" performers. This year we present Disney's ALADDIN.
The OBD Kids season runs from late August through February and features performances in our black box theatre and a trip to a theatre competition at Disney World.
Rehearsal Dates: Saturdays
Troupe members will meet each Saturday for an Actors' Intensive class with Mr. Chris and will then attend a 3 - 4 hour production rehearsal. They will also perform various community service acts throughout the season.

"THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE"

Detailed Information
Rehearsal Dates: Wednesdays and/or Sundays, depending on role
Casting Opportunities:
We will be casting 20-30 performers ages 8 – 18 for this show. Every cast member will have their turn in the spotlight!
Principles (very strong actors, singers and dancers): Millie, Jimmy, Mrs. Meers, Dorothy, Ching Ho, Bun Foo, Miss Flannery, Trevor Graydon.
The Hotel Priscilla Girls: These girls will provide the comic relief throughout the show. They do not have to tap, but should sing and move well.
Stenographers: We will cast 7 - 10 strong tap dancers for the show's signature numbers. These featured dancers are not named roles, but they may receive small solos and must be able to sing well. A Dance Captain will be selected out of this group.
Ensemble: Practically every song has some ensemble work in it. There will be very little sitting around in this show for the ensemble, and there are a few other roles with one or two lines that will be assigned during rehearsals.
Performance Dates: November 5, 6, 7 and 12, 13, 14
Junior Theatre Festival: January 14 - 16, 2011
A 20 minute excerpt of this production will compete in the “Junior Theatre Festival” held in Atlanta on MLK, Jr. weekend. NOTE: If you are cast in a Principal role you MUST be available to participate in the Junior Theatre Festival. No exceptions.

"TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD "
Audition Dates - August 15 and 16 from 6 - 9 pm
Directed by Colleen Quigley Green
Produced by Christian Mayer
Performance Dates: October 29 - November 7
OFF BROADWAY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY is holding open non equity auditions for TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming (Address: 724 Pilgrim Mill Road, Cumming GA 30040).
Casting 20 characters - 8 females and 12 males between the ages of 8 and 65. Some characters may double.
Rehearsals will be held at the Episcopal Church two weeknights and on Sunday evenings. Actor stipend offered.
"To Kill A Mockingbird" will be directed by Colleen Quigley Green and produced by Christian Mayer, and will run October 29th – November 7th, 2010 at the Cumming Playhouse.

OFF BROADWAY TANK TOPS NOW AVAILABLE
Shirts can be worn as part of new studio dress code
 All DANCE and THEATRE students are asked to wear:
- An Off Broadway studio shirt
- Black jazz pants/shorts
- The proper hosiery and shoes for the class
- Their hair and bangs secured back into a ponytail or bun so that no hair hangs in the face
- Teachers have been advised that students will not be permitted to participate in class with attire that does not follow the dress code.
We will have limited quantities of the tees and tanks on hand, but most likely they will need to be pre-ordered. Click here for information on how to order your t-shirts.
