Performance Dates - 2 weekends: November 5, 6, 7 and 12, 13, 14

This fun-filled show will be produced in our black box theatre in November, under the direction of Award-winning director, Nathan Gerrells.

Junior Theatre Festival - January 14 - 16, 2011 (MLK, Jr. Weekend)

A 20 minute excerpt of this production will compete in the “Junior Theatre Festival” held in Atlanta on MLK, Jr. weekend; January 14 – 16, 2011. NOTE: If you are cast in a Principal role you MUST be available to participate in the Junior Theatre Festival. No exceptions.

Rehearsals for JTF will be held in December/January. There is a fee to participate in JTF of approximately $175 which will be due around October/November. Click here for information on the 2011 Junior Theatre Festival.

Audition Requirements:

•  Open to Boys and Girls Ages 8 - 18;
•  Prepare a 16-bar audition and bring CD accompaniment (CDs must have music only, no vocals, and preferably be trimmed down to the 16 bars);
•  Come prepared to learn a dance audition. If you tap dance please bring your tap shoes;
•  Production Fee - $150. Students currently registered at Off Broadway will receive a $50 discount.

Because "Millie" features lively tap numbers, Off Broadway will offer a Tap Dance Bootcamp this summer prior to auditions. The bootcamp is a great way for non-tappers to become familiar with the most popular tap steps, and is a great head-start for the show's dance audition.

"MADELINE'S CHRISTMAS" - December 10 - 19
"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines lived twelve little girls in two straight lines..." So begins the delightful musical story of Madeline's Christmas, based on Ludwig Bemelmans' best-selling books. The show is an exciting opportunity to feature our junior performers ages 8 - 12, in addition to several teen leads. Auditions will be held in the fall.

"GODSPELL" - May 6 - 22 (two weekends)
With music by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell is among our favorite shows here at Off Broadway not only for its catchy songs but because of its ensemble nature. Under the Direction of Colleen Green, this production is sure to become a crowd favorite, too! Auditions will be held in January, 2011.

"FAME" - August 5 - 11
Next summer it will be a real treat as we offer a full Children's Theatre production in addition to our summer camps! Stay tuned for details.

The production fee for our Children's Theatre is $150 for non-registered students and $100 for those registered. (To be considered registered, students must be currently enrolled and active in at least one VOICE, DANCE, MUSICAL INSTRUMENT or THEATRE class during the 2010-2011 season.) The production fee covers the professional instruction your child will receive, administrative costs, most costumes, the props, the scenery/set design, marketing materials, and the licensing costs associated with running a production.

ABOUT OBCT

The goal of the Off Broadway Children’s Theatre (OBCT) is to expose children to the wonders of theatre both as audience and participants. We are dedicated to producing quality children's theatre, performed by children, for an inexpensive cost.

Honk, JuniorChildren who participate learn about art, music, theatre, and most importantly, teamwork. Our programs develop creativity, self-expression and social consciousness through acting, singing, dancing and comedy. We inspire performers to discover their own unique voice while building valuable skills that extend to all facets of life. Self-discipline and joy are encouraged! The Off Broadway Children’s Theatre is a theatre that provides training and performances for the entire community.

Off Broadway Children's Theatre prides itself on being a place where every child gets an equal chance. No parts are given based on seniority or how many classes a child takes, performing opportunities are given to everyone who shows an interest. Every student is a “Star” in our studio.
